Jessie's Violins

Lessons and Weddings

Lessons for the Entire Family

Jessie's Violins utilizes a mix of violin curriculums. She relies heavily on the Suzuki books, but also incorporates repertoire from other books. While Jessica primarily teaches the classical style of playing, lessons can be customized to fit what the student is looking for. Her lessons are full of age-appropriate games and predictable structure. All ages of students are welcome. Many of her students are school-age kids looking to get help with their orchestral music. When it comes to teaching, Jessica's philosophy is that the parents should be learning alongside their children (especially during the first stages). Parents don't need to go out and purchase a violin for themselves, but they need to be active in their child's practice. It takes discipline, patience, persistence, and critical thinking skills to develop the skills necessary to become a strong musician; things that kids are still developing. Jessica offers both individual and group lessons for students.

Why Use the Suzuki Method?

The Suzuki Method is a mother-tongue approach to music education, using principles of language development as a blueprint for music learning. At Suzuki Strings of Denver, we believe that every child can learn when provided with a nurturing environment. We model our program after the key principles of the Suzuki philosophy listed here.

  1. Parental involvement is the key to success

    • Parents should be their child's home teacher. Kids rely on their parents to help them foster the skills of discipline and repetition as they learn their instrument. For this to happen, parents should sit by their child as their child practices.

  2. Listening to the music is important

    • Just as children learn their native language(s) by listening to others speak, it's most effective for children to listen to the recordings of the music.

  3. Repetition

    • Focused and consistent repetition is essential for musical retention and development.

  4. Supplemental Material

    • The primary instruction of musical and technical skills is gained through the literature in the Suzuki Volumes. Additionally, I incorporate music from an extensive range of composers and genres in our teaching.

  5. Note Reading

    • Just as a child learns to speak before they learn to read, your SSD teachers will foster your child’s note reading skills to develop proficiency over time.
